You snore. So what? You know it’s annoying, and frankly, a little embarrassing, but it’s not harmful. Is it?
The fact of the matter is, snoring is a symptom of sleep apnea along with daytime sleepiness, fatigue, and stress. Sleep apnea causes you to stop breathing for 10 seconds or more, cutting off oxygen to body. That lack of oxygen signals the brain to wake up and breathe, rousing you out of your good night’s sleep into a lighter stage of sleep, or even to wake up completely.
